efa8d942b8 Refactor: Remove grid and compact UI list layout in Python scripts
The grid layout type for UI list is planned for removal in 5.0, see
blender/blender#110461.

In previous UI meetings, we talked about deprecating the Grid mode of
the UI list, which is not actually accessible in UI and was never used.
Nowadays, there is a new grid view that can be exposed in the API in
the future.

Initially, I wanted to remove references to layout_type in UI templates
in the text editor, because a lot of add-on developers on the
extensions platform base their lists on that code, and a lot of them
are therefore including soon to be deprecated code in their add-ons,
which I want to avoid in the future. But I thought we might as well
remove it from our python scripts as well, since it's just basically
redundant code that doesn't do anything. And also because many add-on
developers use bundled python scripts for references as well.

41b24d6293 Anim: remove Compositor action selector from Scene properties
The Compositor node tree is no longer embedded in the Scene, so having
its action and slot selector in Scene properties doesn't properly
represent the data model anymore. For example, the node tree could
in theory be shared across multiple scenes as a standard setup in a
project.

4fe75da973 EEVEE: Remove all remaining reference of EEVEE next
This changes the engine identifier back to `BLENDER_EEVEE`.

We keep the `BLENDER_EEVEE_NEXT` identifier around for
versioning reasons (have to detect when it is the active
engine of a older file).

This also rename a bunch of pannels that were using `next`
in their name.

This is a breaking change for Addons compatibility.

bd61e69be5 Compositor: make compositor node trees reusable
This is part of the short term roadmap goal of simplifying the
compositor workflow
(see https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/134214).
The problem is that many users don't know how to get started with
compositing in Blender, even when they have used Blender for other
areas, e.g. modeling.

Note: although the solution makes compositor node trees reusable
accross blend files, this is a nice side effect and not the main goal
of the PR.

This PR implements a "New" button that creates a new compositing node
tree, and manages trees as IDs. This has following advantages:
- Consistent with other node editors and other parts of Blender,
therefore making it easier to getting started with compositing if users
are familiar with shading or geometry nodes
- Give users the ability to reuse the compositing node tree by linking
or appending it.

Note: The parameter "Use Nodes" is still present in this PR, but will
be removed (in a backward compatible way) in a follow up PR.

5dd53fdb29 Fix: Avoid relative imports in UI code
Relative imports are intentionally avoided in UI code (`scripts/startup/bl_ui`) because it makes it impossible to run individual files in isolation.

Common workflow for making mock-ups and quick UI edits is to load the UI file in Blender's text editor with "Edit Source" operator, make changes, and run the script to see the changes. But in the current version it's impossible because files include relative imports, which don't allow Python to run scripts individually.

1ac5b45eae Anim: add Action+Slot selector for Compositing Node Tree
This allows users to manage the Action and Slot assignment of a Scene's
compositing nodes. The selector lives in the Animation Panel in Scene
Properties, alongside the Action+Slot selector of the Scene ID itself.

383c3c8253 Anim: Add Action+Slot selectors to Property editor tabs
Add Action + Action Slot selectors to various Property Editor tabs.
This follows the pattern established in
f917b60036.

Support for `CacheFile` data-blocks is not included here. That needs
some discussion, as currently its interface is part of the Modifier
stack (and thus implemented in C++ and not Python, and using a
different layout).

Since this PR is about adding to the Property Editor, some data-blocks
that have no representation there are thus excluded (like `Mask`).
Even when they could actually use an Action+Slot selector somewhere.

5e28601d69 Anim: Separate keying flags
Splits the flag `..._FLAG_INSERTNEEDED` between autokey and
manual keying. The fact that this flag was shared between the two
systems has been the cause of issues in the past. It wouldn't
let you insert a keyframe even though you explicitly used an operator
to do so.

In order to be clearer what options are used where, the user preferences
have been reordered.

By default "Only Insert Needed" will be enabled for auto-keying, but not for manual keying.
The versioning code will enable both if it was enabled previously.

# Code side changes

The keying system has flags that define the behavior
when keys are inserted. Some of those flags were shared
between keying and auto-keying. Some were only used for
auto-keying.
To clarify that, prefix flags that used exclusively in one or the other
system with `AUTOKEY`/`MANUALKEY`

Also the flag name on the user preferences and the tool settings was renamed.
Previously it was called `autokey_flag`. To indicated that it is not only used
for autokeying, rename it `keying_flag`.

30b0c5b225 Fix: Inserting keys no longer sets the FCurve channel color
When pressing `I` in the viewport, the colors of the FCurve channels were no longer set correctly.

Caused by #113504

Fix by removing the flag that determined that in the first place,
and read straight from the user preferences. Then move the code
that sets the mode on the FCurve into the function that actually creates it.

For 99% of cases the code went to the user preference flag `AUTOKEY_FLAG_XYZ2RGB`
and if that was set, the `INSERTKEY_XYZ2RGB` would be set. The only case where this
was not from the user preferences was from custom keying sets.
There was an override flag for FCurve colors on custom keying sets.
I removed that with this patch since the use case is not apparent
and custom keying sets are hardly used.

ad169ba67a Geometry Nodes: support baking individual simulations
Previously, it was only possible to bake all simulations at once. This is great
for simple use-cases that, but in more complex setups one can have independent
simulations that should also be baked independently. This patch allows baking
individual simulation zones.

Furthermore, each simulation zone can now also have its own bake path and
simulation frame range. By default the simulation frame range is the scene frame
range, but it can also be customized on the scene or simulation zone level. The
bake path is generated based on the modifier bake path by default, but can be
set to another absolute or relative (to the .blend file) path.

The timeline drawing has been modified as well to be able to show more information
in the case when some simulations are baked and others are not. Instead of showing
a line for every simulation, it shows a condensed view of the important information
using at most two lines:
Is something baked? Is something valid or invalid? Also see #112232.

e955c94ed3 License Headers: Set copyright to "Blender Authors", add AUTHORS
Listing the "Blender Foundation" as copyright holder implied the Blender
Foundation holds copyright to files which may include work from many
developers.

While keeping copyright on headers makes sense for isolated libraries,
Blender's own code may be refactored or moved between files in a way
that makes the per file copyright holders less meaningful.

Copyright references to the "Blender Foundation" have been replaced with
"Blender Authors", with the exception of `./extern/` since these this
contains libraries which are more isolated, any changed to license
headers there can be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Some directories in `./intern/` have also been excluded:

- `./intern/cycles/` it's own `AUTHORS` file is planned.
- `./intern/opensubdiv/`.

An "AUTHORS" file has been added, using the chromium projects authors
file as a template.

03806d0b67 Re-design of submodules used in blender.git
This commit implements described in the #104573.

The goal is to fix the confusion of the submodule hashes change, which are not
ideal for any of the supported git-module configuration (they are either always
visible causing confusion, or silently staged and committed, also causing
confusion).

This commit replaces submodules with a checkout of addons and addons_contrib,
covered by the .gitignore, and locale and developer tools are moved to the
main repository.

This also changes the paths:
- /release/scripts are moved to the /scripts
- /source/tools are moved to the /tools
- /release/datafiles/locale is moved to /locale

This is done to avoid conflicts when using bisect, and also allow buildbot to
automatically "recover" wgen building older or newer branches/patches.

Running `make update` will initialize the local checkout to the changed
repository configuration.

Another aspect of the change is that the make update will support Github style
of remote organization (origin remote pointing to thy fork, upstream remote
pointing to the upstream blender/blender.git).
