The import nodes are considered complete enough to expose without
the experimental option. This commit removes the option so they will
be exposed in 4.5. There are still some possible future improvements,
including automatic caching, possibly exposing more input sockets,
and possibly including imported paths in the "Internal Dependencies"
panel. Those are considered non blocking though.

Implement shortcuts for viewer nodes. Viewer nodes are now activated using the operator `bpy.ops.node.activate_viewer()` instead of activating the viewer by setting the node to active.
This also unifies the behavior with viewer shortcuts in the compositor (see attachment in the original PR).

WM_report was originally added for special cases however new code
has been using this in operators for example, where reports should be
sent to the operator via BKE_report, so the caller can handle,
and so Python can catch the errors.
Rename the functions to make them less easily confused with BKE_report
and add a code-comment on why their use should be avoided.

Nodes within frames were ignored because previously their location was
relative to the frame, so moving both the frame and the node would cause
"double" movement. Now each node location is independent.
The goal is to have a clear separation between active nodes and active viewers in a node tree. Both the compositor and geometry nodes viewers are supported. This will also allow us to implement shortcuts for viewers for geometry nodes.
A viewer node can be activated using
```
viewer_node = bpy.context.scene.node_tree.nodes["Viewer"]
with bpy.context.temp_override(node=viewer_node):
bpy.ops.node.activate_viewer()
```

As a small addition to the import node features for 4.5,
this simple node imports a text file as a string. Potential
use cases include retrieving text for motion graphics.
Currently this just allows .txt files. More extensions could
be allowed in the future.

The general idea is to keep the 'old', C-style MEM_callocN signature, and slowly
replace most of its usages with the new, C++-style type-safer template version.
* `MEM_cnew<T>` allocation version is renamed to `MEM_callocN<T>`.
* `MEM_cnew_array<T>` allocation version is renamed to `MEM_calloc_arrayN<T>`.
* `MEM_cnew<T>` duplicate version is renamed to `MEM_dupallocN<T>`.
Similar templates type-safe version of `MEM_mallocN` will be added soon
as well.
Following discussions in !134452.
NOTE: For now static type checking in `MEM_callocN` and related are slightly
different for Windows MSVC. This compiler seems to consider structs using the
`DNA_DEFINE_CXX_METHODS` macro as non-trivial (likely because their default
copy constructors are deleted). So using checks on trivially
constructible/destructible instead on this compiler/system.

Replace `bNodeInstanceHash` with a `Map`. Move it to the node tree
runtime data. Simplify some code by removing the tag from the hash
value and collecting unused previews directly. Then just remove a
bunch of code that's now unused.
Note that texture node previews haven't been working for a while
anyway, and the experimental shader node previews seem to use
a different system (this one is a remnant of Blender Internal).

This adds support for panel toggles from 2822777f13
to the materials tab in the properties editor. At the same
time, it also starts making use of layout panels which
offer a more standardized UI than the ad-hoc panels
implementation that was used there beforehand.
Adds the option to create a boolean socket that can be used as a panel toggle.
This allows creating simpler and more compact node group UIs when a panel
can be "disabled".
The toggle input is a normal input socket that is just drawn a bit differently in
the UI. Whether a boolean is a toggle input or not does not affect evaluation.
Also see #133936 for guides on how to add and remove panel toggles.
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/133936
Multiple panels of material in properties tab were not
collapsed/expanded when click-dragged over them. This is because wrong
button type for interface-panel. To support multi-drag, button has to be
of type toggle, see: `ui_do_but_ANY_drag_toggle()->
ui_drag_toggle_but_is_supported`
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/135154
Now import nodes are automatically created in Geometry Nodes when dropping
`.obj`, `.stl`, `.ply` and `.csv` files. Note that this is still hidden behind an
experimental feature flag.
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/135036
Restriction of the nodes api to clearly define never-null function arguments.
Side effects: some assertions and null-check (with early return) were removed.
On the caller side is ensured to never derefer null to pass argument (mainly in RNA).
In addition, one pointer argument now actually a return type.
By-reference return types instead of pointers going to be separate kind of
change since also imply of cleaning up variables created from reference.
Also good future improvement would be to mark a copy-constructor as
explicit for DNA node types.

This reverts commit afec64739a.
The commit introduces a regression where opening the Asset Browser opens
the File Browser instead, same for other editor sub-types, see
blender/blender#134630.
blender/blender!134642 proposes a different solution and reverts this,
which I prefer too. Better to the revert separately from trying a
different fix for the initial bug, makes reviewing easier too.
Node region is not tagged to redraw when animation slot is changed.
`action_slot` RNA prop has `NC_ANIMATION`notifier set, use the same in
`node_region_listener` to tag region redraw.

When needing a friendly title and icon for windows and screen areas we
use SpaceType callbacks. For Node editors this could crash for custom
node trees that are unregistered. node_tree_type_find returns nullptr
since this custom tree type is not in the map. In this case just return
translated "Node Editor".
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/134692
And replace nullptr arguments for tooltips in UI button
creation functions with std::nullopt. Though the distinction
between "no tooltip" and "empty tooltip" doesn't seem to exist,
it seems safer to keep the distinction since it existed with null before.
This changes the ui-blocks buttons storage from Listbase to Vector.
Major changes that might cause a performance considerations are
in `ui_but_update_from_old_block` that requires to track buttons when restoring
button state between block redraws or in `uiItemFullR` that may needs to insert
uiButs in the middle of the vector to add decorators. This might not be as fast as
removing or inserting elements in the middle of a listbase container. Also buttons currently
don't know its position in the container, so to get the previous and next
button its required to make a lookup of the button in the container.
`UI_block_update_from_old> ui_but_update_from_old_block` restores the state
of buttons between frames, this is done by sequentially testing if a button is the
same as an old button, however since UI can be created procedurally some old buttons
may not be drawn while editing other button data, this requires an extra track of what
buttons may not match to a new button while comparing for restoring state, but still
this buttons may be candidates to match to an new button.
Not functional changes expected.

This implements the memorization of the previous state of a space's
subtype for those that have multiple modes. Introduces an optional
space_subtype_prev_get callback, implemented for SPACE_ACTION,
SPACE_FILE, SPACE_GRAPH, SPACE_IMAGE and SPACE_NODE. This means we
can always return to the previous mode.

The compositor crashes when the active viewer layers is deleted and
replaced by a new layer. That's because the depsgraph of the compositor
still references the old view layer. To fix this, we need to update the
view layer of the compositor if it changed since it was last created.

Move `Library.runtime` to be a pointer, move the related
`LibraryRuntime` struct to `BKE_library.hh`. Similar to e.g.
Mesh.runtime, that pointer is expected to always be valid, and is
allocated at readtime or when creating a new Library ID.
Related smaller changes:
* Write code now uses standard ID writing codepath for Library IDs too.
* Runtime pointer is reset to nullptr before writing.
* Looking up a library by its absolute path is now handled through a
dedicated utils, `search_filepath_abs`, instead of using
`BLI_findstring`.
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/134188
Currently UI code always has to use char pointers when interacting with
the translation system. This makes benefiting from the use C++ strings
and StringRef more difficult. That means we're leaving some type safety
and performance on the table. This PR adds StringRef overloads to the
translation API functions and removes the few calls to `.c_str()` that
are now unnecessary.
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/133887
Also use Vector to store menu search items instead of a linked
list. And extend the change into the autocomplete API slightly.
The main benefit is to avoid measuring the length of strings over
and over, but the code also gets simpler.
When active node is clicked again, the image editor does not update and
keeps showing the old image. Always run `ED_space_image_sync`, when
clicked node is image texture node to resolve this issue.

`compositor_is_in_use` sets `used_by_compositor` true when GPU device is
selected. This draws render pass warning even when viewport
compositor is disabled. Remove the condition to fix the unintentional
warning. Following function is just used in node drawing, seems safe to
remove then.

This patch allows the compositor context to specify exactly which
outputs it needs, selecting from: Composite, Viewer, File Output, and
Previews. Previously, the compositor fully executed if any of those were
needed, without granular control on which outputs are needed exactly.
For the viewport compositor engine, it requests Composite and Viewer,
with no Previews or File Outputs.
For the render pipeline, it requests Composite and File Output, with
node Viewer or Previews.
For the interactive compositor, it requests Viewer if the backdrop is
visible or an image editor with the viewer image is visible, it requests
Compositor if an image editor with the render result is visible, it
requests Previews if a node editor has previews overlay enabled. File
outputs are never requested.
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/133960
This patch adds support for drag and dropping colors (from color buttons) into
the Compositing, Shading and Geometry node trees.
Additional support was added for dragging and dropping colors with an Alpha
component (which was previously ignored), both in the context of the Node Editor
and for Color Buttons in general. This handles cases like drag and dropping a
color from an RGB to an RGBA button, which recreates the color with a default
Alpha value of 1.0.
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/129026
Artists often want to quickly switch back and forth between two or more nodes while compositing.
This patch implements two operators `NODE_OT_viewer_shortcut_set` and `NODE_OT_viewer_shortcut_get` that allow users to map a viewer node to a shortcut. For example, pressing `cltr+1` while a node is selected, assigns that node to the shortcut `1`, creates a viewer node if it has none attached and sets that viewer node to active. Pressing `1` will set the active node with shortcut `1` to active.
Shortcuts are saved in DNA to preserve them after saving/loading blend files.
Limitations:
- Only compositor node tree is supported, because shading editor has no viewer node and geometry nodes viewer works differently.
