Our precious outliner is back! :)
Currently no operations are active there, nor notifiers to refresh
other windows. Be patient!
You can switch to RNA with the 'view' menu.
Later we'll sort out how much of both get integrated in 1 system, or
have both options, or make designated 'data view' for rna? ALso the
old Oops... bring back?
Better implementation of own window timers, not using ghost.
That makes blender's WM nice in control, and gives callers
of timers the opportunitie to evaluate time passed since
previous step. This system also only generates one timer
event per main loop (events - handlers - notifiers - draw)
Small fix: allow keymap modifier to give KM_ANY to ignore
modifier keys, this to have TIMER keymap work.
Cleanup
- for portablity we can keep the old ugly defines for retrieving
active object, cfra and so on. But, they will use 'scene' not
G.scene.
- fixed code that uses those defines.
- some unused variables/functions removed
Initial commit of drawing code for Action Editor / Dopesheet. By default, the Dopesheet is now enabled (like in AnimSys2). There are still a few unresolved problems (like bad alpha blending for icons, and keyframes still not being drawn). However, these will be resolved in due course.
Animated screen! (unfinished, now only draws, no animation code yet).
Fun though to see it all work. :)
NOTE: Mac ghost has timer bug, the GHOST_ProcessEvents() doesnt wake
up for timers.
NOTE2: Added while loop in wm_window_process_events() to force Ghost
giving all events to Blender. Timers otherwise don't accumulate...
might be needed to fix in ghost too.
I tend to think to code own timer, this ghost stuff is totally different
per platform.
Added 'header print' feature back.
ED_area_headerprint(ScrArea *sa, const char *str);
Give it a NULL string to disable the feature.
On each call it tags the header for redraw.
DONE:
* moved almost all declarations from BLI_blenlib.h into their own proper header files.
* BLI_blenlib.h still includes all the declarations for convenience and to avoid changes in existing code
* split util.c into several files, where it wasn't done already
* DynamicList -> dynamiclist,
* ListBase -> listbase,
* String utility functions -> string.c
* removed a few unused macros and functions, if they're needed back, they're still in svn ;)
TODO:
* btempdir global
* further cleanup in the code of the different modules (especially util.c)
Merged 'backend' changes from AnimSys2. Many of these changes are necessary for the Dopesheet and other changes I'm currently still stabilising. Those will come in due course.
Drawing and viewing code for view3d back (no not objects :).
Quick test: converted 2250 ugly lines of code in 2.5 hours.
With about 300k lines todo, this will be 333 hours = 30 days? Whoa!
* Added flags to View2D to specify whether the view should have pixel offsets applied (this is able to be specified per axis, just in case the need arises). Currently, this is only used for headers, where the UI elements were not as smooth + round as they could be
* Fixed IPO/Action/NLA so that new instance will show channel lists by default and with scrollers
* Fixed Outliner zoom-in/out on changing windowsize. I didn't notice this on my previous custom .B.blend file, but the problem was apparent in the default setup.
* Added support for defining properties for operator buttons, with
uiButGetOperatorPtrRNA. Needed to cleanup a hack that was there
for operator properties in RNA, now a separate OperatorProperties
type is used for storing operator properties, instead of being part
of the Operator type itself.
* Allow selecting menu items with mouse release instead of press again.
* Fix some cases with hanging tooltips in the UI.
Improved the View2D API so that initialising View2D data in init() callbacks (called on new regions and also on resizing regions) for regions is easier.
Added a few preset view configurations for use when initialising new views. Views with the V2D_IS_INITIALISED flag set will not be reinitialised in the init() callbacks. Currently, some of these configurations will set/override all settings (like V2D_COMMONVIEW_LIST and V2D_COMMONVIEW_HEADER), while other ones serve a more supplimentary role (i.e. V2D_COMMONVIEW_TIMELINE only sets the x-axis settings, relying on the region to have already set the relevant y-axis settings).
The future of such supplimentary configurations is yet to be seen, as I'm currently not sure whether they will cause the code to become too confusing, as you'd have to keep track of which settings belong/are set where. So far, only a few areas have been ported to use this. Tomorrow I'll check on a few more.
As this commit touches a lot of files, hopefully there aren't any critical bugs I've missed here.
- depricated area "headbutofs" and "headbutlen", which is now fully
replaced with view2d handling.
- needed to add header default V2D_ALIGN_NO_NEG_Y, V2D_LOCKOFS_Y seems
to not do anything atm :)
- new: running blender in debug (blender -d) will print the current
handler and operator in use (not mousemove)
which will then be set when the operator is called, example:
kmi= WM_keymap_add_item(keymap, "ED_SCR_OT_region_split", SKEY, KM_PRESS, 0, 0);
RNA_enum_set(kmi->ptr, "dir", 'h');
kmi= WM_keymap_add_item(keymap, "ED_SCR_OT_region_split", SKEY, KM_PRESS, KM_SHIFT, 0);
RNA_enum_set(kmi->ptr, "dir", 'v');
There is a hack I had to do here, since properties are defined
as member of wmOperator, will try to fix later, committing now
so it can be used already.
I've gone through and simplified some of the redundant options while documenting the various settings (in the code and also in the Wiki Doc), to make it clearer how to use each option.
'Preset' view-types have yet to be fully implemented, but started groundwork for this. Only some commonly used view configurations will be defined using this method. For all others, they still need to define all relavent view settings themselves (as there's too much variation in terms of the various editor's use of View2D).
IPO Editor now draws with channels on the left, like all other anim editors. Now, how to make this wider...
* DNA_sequence_types.h done, patch by Roelf de Kock, with various changes,
mainly the use of inheritance for different sequence types and hiding the
separate Strip struct.
* Scrollers now draw using nice rounded+shaded style everywhere
* When scrollers 'bubble' completely fills a scroller or is completely out of view, the view zooming using the handles is now only activated if the mouse is within a quarter of the total length of the scroller on either end of the scroller. Otherwise, pan is activated. This should make the scrollers more usable in anim editors.
* Fixed drawing of gridlines in TimeLine - needed to adjust ymin value of cur and tot rects to accomodate for the new mask/cur adjustments as old TimeLines didn't draw with 'real' scrollbars. Also, adjusted min/max values to fit these new tot/cur rect y-sizes.
* Tidying up vars and fixing errors in declaring new View2D types in preparation for simpler method of initialising views...
IPO Editor Fixes:
* Grid now draws correct. Fixed typo in gridline calculations preventing drawing from occurring. Also, set the right arguments to the appropriate View2D calls.
* Limited Ton's cur<->mask mapping 'hack' to Outliner only, as it was causing problems with the drawing of the grid. Perhaps there's still some faulty code in curRect_validate that should be changed instead...
* Horizontal scroller draws frames now by default. However, the values are still offset a bit, so will need further investigation.
Outliner Fixes:
* Fixed overlapping text problem with RNA-path and menus. Now RNA path draws as a label beside the menus, so there shouldn't be any more problems there.
* do_versions code now sets all appropriate flags, as old OOPS views could cause errors with scroller drawing + view manipulation operators which depend on flags being set.
Fixes in view2d:
- mask/slider rects were calculated wrong 1 pixel (was overlapping)
- found bug with outliner stretching on area-edge-dragging. It required
an extra mapping of the 'cur view' via mask to actual region.
- added v2d sanity check for uninitialized v2d's
- removed cruft in do_versions for headers (gets catched with above)
- added header-view2d-initialize function, for new-space calls
Fixes in areamanager:
- fixes in 'new space' for time/outliner/view2d
(unfinished)
For Joshua:
- Making time window higher shows it doesn't update 'cur'. Not sure
what kind of v2d flag should be checked or set?
Scrollers now draw in the 'rounded + shaded' style as much of the rest of Blender now. This is just a rough draft of what they could look like (vertical scrollbers in particular highlight the need for a complementary version of gl_round_box_shade).
Today's progress; half working, but i better commit to prevent
conflicts tomorrow :)
- added storage for regions in spacedata
- added space switching (unfinished, gives mem-free errors)
- bugfix: icon of timewindow gave error on split-area
- cleaned interface_icons.c a bit, no warnings
- first work on space new() callbacks, they have to make regions too
NOTE: probably files saved with 2.5 crash now. Have to look at
patching this.
NOTE2: the Makefiles required libeditor screen twice... scons too?
Cleanup in area/region management
- more intelligence in area management for adding handlers and setting
data correct. Space/Region type callbacks only have to do own things.
- added option for adding default handlers to areas/regions. (flag in
type definition)
- ensured that region-types store the minsizes for regions.
- added boundbox check for handlers; note that it accepts pointer to
boundbox, because handlers don't get reset on area-resizing or
view changes. Example: view2d handlers use mask rect.
- handlers get now added on correct context levels (example frame change
also worked in header)
- removed ->refresh() callback. Context refreshing is Listener.
- the ->init() is being called on all WM level actions, also after a
file read, moving areas, re-opening areas etc.
- fixed bug: crash on exit was caused by cleaning up Screen too late.
- UI_view2d_size_update() removed from draw callback, is init()
- regions now store (winx, winy) subwindow size.
a special UI handler which makes the code clearer. This UI handler is attached
to the region along with other handlers, and also gets a callback when all
handlers for the region are removed to ensure things are properly cleaned up.
This should fix XXX's in the UI code related to events and context switching.
Most of the changes are in interface_handlers.c, which was renamed from
interface_ops.c, to convert operators to the UI handler. UI code notes:
* uiBeginBlock/uiEndBlock/uiFreeBlocks now takes a context argument, this is
required to properly cancel things like timers or tooltips when the region
gets removed.
* UI_add_region_handlers will add the region level UI handlers, to be used
when adding keymap handlers etc. This replaces the UI keymap.
* When the UI code starts a modal interaction (number sliding, text editing,
opening a menu, ..), it will add an UI handler at the window level which
will block events.
Windowmanager changes:
* Added an UI handler next to the existing keymap and operator modal handlers.
It has an event handling and remove callback, and like operator modal handlers
will remember the area and region if it is registered at the window level.
* Removed the MESSAGE event.
* Operator cancel and UI handler remove callbacks now get the
window/area/region restored in the context, like the operator modal and UI
handler event callbacks.
* Regions now receive MOUSEMOVE events for the mouse going outside of the
region. This was already happening for areas, but UI buttons are at the region
level so we need it there.
Issues:
* Tooltips and menus stay open when switching to another window, and button
highlight doesn't work without moving the mouse first when Blender starts up.
I tried using some events like Q_FIRSTTIME, WINTHAW, but those don't seem to
arrive..
* Timeline header buttons seem to be moving one pixel or so sometimes when
interacting with them.
* Seems not due to this commit, but UI and keymap handlers are leaking. It
seems that handlers are being added to regions in all screens, also in regions
of areas that are not visible, but these handlers are not removed. Probably
there should only be handlers in visible regions?
Area Manager: revised how an area subdivision gets managed. Originally
the 'spacedata' would store regiondata too, but this already became
impractical (like having view2d data in region is useful). So I left
that part how it is. See new diagram:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/AreaManager
This means that regions in an Area define location/size or constraints
for how they get arranged. The "RegionType" which is linked to this
defines its functionality.
For fun, test, and code validation: two temporary hotkeys added.
SKEY: splits current region horizontally
SHIFT+S: splits vertically
Note - in outliner - that "context" sticks to the Area as whole, the region
here only defines view. That's the purpose. :) For two outliners with different
context you open 2 areas.
Also note that dragging screen-edges shows the region-alignment type (split
with percentage).
Part one of wrapping up area/region management.
Read design doc here:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/AreaManager
This commit:
- brings keymap storage to WM, based on names/types. This structure
allows rna-ifying it too, so you can browse keymaps etc.
- creating areas and regions works slightly different now, wich
regiontypes stored in areatype.
Todo:
- better callbacks and structure for defining which handlers need to
be added.
- using region types to validate regions
- proper implementation of local region data
- code method for customizing keymaps. Current idea is that you have
to indicate an entire keymap to be custom, to prevent too complicated
merging problems of default and custom maps (like order, multiple keys
for same operator, disabling options, etc).
Implemented operator to work with scrollers. This should work reasonably well, but as always, more testing is needed.
* LMB-drag can now be used to initiate manipulations of scrollbars (so they can be dragged as per normal)
* By clicking on the 'dark regions' on the ends of the scroll bubble, it is possible to zoom the view (in a way similar to Sony Vegas scrollbars)
Tidied up code of other operators
* Re-labelled the current zoom operators, as there is still a modal click-drag zoom tool to be ported still
* Marked all of the existing view manipulation operators as redoable. Scrollers manipulator is not allowed to be redoable.
Assorted changes:
* Added more flags for Outliner on reading old files, to prevent more weird things happening as code expects certain flags these days
This commit *should* bring UI_view2d_status_enforce() (formerly known in pre 2.5 as test_view2d) under control again.
I've attempted to reduce the amount of duplicated code here, so hopefully there won't be any nasty bugs that will show up in some of the other views when they are ported.
Summary of changes:
* Restored V2D_KEEPZOOM flag which I had previously removed, having misunderstood its function.
* Fixed bugs with resizing Outliner window
* Outliner width is now columns + 1 again. Documented reasons for this (otherwise, stuff gets covered by scrollbars, but we cannot see it)
* Cleaned up flags defined for View2D, and added some for defining the alignment of the view's data in the 'tot' rect (i.e. which quadrant(s) the view data is allowed to reside in).
* These flags are used in the new UI_view2d_totRect_set() function, which sets the new size of the 'tot' rect (i.e. the maximum viewable area). Currently, is only used for Outliner, but channel-lists also require this.
* Added API method to reset 'cur' (current viewing region) to 'default' viewing region - UI_view2d_curRect_reset(). Currently, 'keepzoom' is not respected. I'll check on whether this is needed when I recode UI_view2d_status_enforce(), which is badly in need of a cleanup.
many small changes, but the two bigger ones are:
* Sensors and controllers now use inheritance, rather than pointing
to the data in a separate struct. Had to add some new RNA define
functionality to support this better.
* DNA_meta_types.h was marked as done but still missing many things,
now completed.
* Changes in interface/ module
This commit brings back the way how buttons/menus work under control
of WM event system. The previous implementation extended usage of
handlers and operators in an interesting but confusing way. Better to
try it first according the design specs. :)
Most obviously:
- modal-handler operators are not stored anymore in regions/areas/windows.
such modal handlers own their operator, and should remove it themselves.
- removed code to move handlers from one queue to another.
(needs review with brecht!)
- WM fix: the API call to remove a modal handler got removed. This was a
dangerous thing anyway, and you should leave that to the event system.
Now, if a handler modal() call gets a cancel/finish return, it frees
itself in event system. WM_event_remove_modal_handler was a confusing
call anyway!
Todo:
- allow button-activate to refresh after using button
- re-enable arrow keys for menus
(do both after commit)
- review return values of operator callbacks in interface_ops.c
* Fixes in WM system
- Freeing areas/regions/windows, also on quit, now correctly closes
running modal handlers
- On starting a modal handler, the handler now stores previous area
and region context, so they send proper notifiers etc.
* Other fixes
- Area-split operator had bug, wrong minimal size checking. This
solves error when trying to split a very narrow area.
- removed DNA_USHORT_FIX from screen_types.h, gave warning
- operators didn't get ID name copied when activated, needed for
later re-use or saving.
* Improved scrollbar drawing a bit more - only cosmetic lines
* Added new view2d view-matrix api method to only use 'cur' coordinates on one axis, for use when drawing markers, etc. that need to be glued to a certain time but stay fixed in space in another dimension. This should improve the sitation for drawing markers
* To aid testing, adding markers now sets the marker to have frame number as it's "name". This will need to be removed later...
* DNA_packedFile_types: added rna definitions for packed files
* also experimentally filled in correct struct 'PackedFile' in image rna for testing.
* updated MSVC projectfiles (also for rna_curve.c and rna_vfont.c)
Note:
I removed PackedFile->flags, I did grep through source and a complete recompile of blender trunk svn without them too, so they obviously aren't needed anymore. A bit of cleaning up :)
* Added basic (non-modal) zoom operators that use a uniform scale factor, with zoom centered using the view center as scaling point. Use Scrollwheel up/down and Pad +/- to use this.
* Added back the 'button'/bubble for the scrollbars. I've added dark lines on either end of it for some later work on zooming widgets.
This is not the final form they'll take. I still need to decide how to handle those scrollbars which act as grid-markers too (showing timescale, etc.), before trying to integrate that with some fancy scrollbar drawing (rounded, etc.)
Assorted changes:
* Moved vertical scrollbar for Outliner to right hand side
* Made Timeline use standard scrollbars, and turned on various clamping options
* Fixed ortho-matrix corrections for scrollbars, and added pixel offsets
* Made Timeline markers sit more snugly on the scrollbar. They were a bit far out...
* Fixed memory leak with view2d keymaps not being freed when Blender exited
* DNA_radio_types.h: done. (patch by Jorge Bernal). Also adds
some #defines in the radiosity DNA since it was using hardcoded
values.
* Added an "UnknownType" which has no properties, useful as a
placeholder for pointers that have no defined type yet.
* Sort a few lists in the code alphabetically.
* Moved View2D data from space-data to ARegion (aka regions). This has been done because drawing occurs in regions not areas anymore. The View2D struct is currently stored in the ARegion struct (not as pointer), given that most of the regions in use will be 2D anyway (only the 3d-view's "window" region is the exception).
Added version patch code for outliner and timeline only for now. Headers are also likely to need this.
* Added separate keymap for View2D operators. All regions that use View2D will need this added. This includes headers too.
* Pan view operator (ED_View2D_OT_view_pan), currently works for Outliner and Timeline. Use MMB-drag as before.
- It currently doesn't exposed any parameters for redo (via RNA-ID-Props), but only uses some customdata. Suggestions on what these parameters could be are welcomed.
- I've yet to implement the necessary axis-locking features for this panning (which is required in Timeline for example to prevent vertical panning, which moves the markers out of view).
- RMB select, also with SHIFT
- RMB tweak for translate
- SHIFT+D dupli
- BKEY border select/deselect
- AKEY (de)select all
- XKEY delete
- GKEY grab
Added some XXX comments for future todos, especially for when other
spaces come back with time markers.
Also added ED_util for putting in all to-be-cleaned cruft
Context conflict: input methods for Markers can conflict with other
spacetypes. It was solved in pre-2.5 with manually tweaking it all over,
but I would prefer one keymap for all marker stuff. Needs some thinking...
could be solved with a boundbox check for bottom part of 2d window.
Tweak issue: both tweak styles are possible:
- Hold mouse button, move, operator ends on mouse release
- Hold mouse button, move, operator ends on mouse click
Problem is that modally handled operators use fixed keymaps... like ESC,
SPACE, ENTER, or press/release mousebutton for 'assign'. There's a lot
to say for making this all consistant, or become part of 1 general keymap?
Should also be possibe to define 'tweak' defaults for Tablet different
than for mouse...
* Added more lamp properties. (patch by Michael Fox)
* Fix a number of warnings in the RNA code.
* Converted DOS line endings to UNIX.
* Added some information on defining ID structs, and fixed use
of "ID" inheritance for some non-ID structs.
* Added text on naming conventions to the RNA documentation, and
applied it to the current code.
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/RNA#Naming_Conventions
Since we'll reshuffle a lot in UI code, making new Screens totally
incompatible, this patch saves the Screen chunk in Blender files
with a new identifier (ID_SCRN), causing it to be not read in old
Blender binaries. Pre-2.50 blender already has a facility to recover
from this (it keeps old UI), including for .B.blends (it opens
default simple screen)
For the latter reason, it might be advisable to have the .B.blend
for 2.50+ saved as another name? Then you can use both for while.
(Note: commit is just 3 lines of code, other files are comments I
added for documentation of other stuff)
* Disable editable pointers for now, difficult to support well.
* Swap parameters in RNA_access.h functions to make it more
consistent.
* Rename rna members for operators to wmOperatorType.srna, and
wmOperator.ptr, to make the distincton a bit clearer.
• Removed the RNA_int_default and similar functions, they're too
confusing. RNA_property_is_set can still be used to achieve
the same goal.
* Add functions to create RNA pointers.
Some example code for RNA data access and operator properties:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/RNAExampleCode
