cdea7c32ec Fix incorrect reporting for the quadreflow operator
- When called from Python, the operator would always return
  success even on failure.
- Errors are now reported to the operator or to the job-systems
  wmJobWorkerStatus::reports.
- Failure now returns OPERATOR_CANCELLED;
- Replace magic numbers with an enum.

bd06baf6e6 WM: rename WM_report* to WM_global_report*, note it's often bad practice
WM_report was originally added for special cases however new code
has been using this in operators for example, where reports should be
sent to the operator via BKE_report, so the caller can handle,
and so Python can catch the errors.

Rename the functions to make them less easily confused with BKE_report
and add a code-comment on why their use should be avoided.

e0f5ce46b7 Fix #134599: Grease Pencil: Connect edges when converting from mesh
The Mesh to Grease Pencil conversion would convert every edge into a stroke.
This was not the case prior to Blender 4.3. Edges with no branches would be
converted into a single stroke instead of mutliple ones.

This fix uses `geometry::mesh_to_curve_convert` from geometry nodes to
achieve more optimal result with edges connected into one stroke when
possible.

edd041e230 Fix freed stack memory use in Visual Geometry to Objects operator
The ternary operator that selecting between `const char *` and
`std::string`, assigning to a `StringRefNull` seems to cause freed
stack memory use (reported by ASAN).

The likely cause looks to be that the `const char *` is converted to a
`std::string` then to a `StringRefNull`.
With the intermediate `std::string` going out of scope before use.

Resolve by explicitly converting both sides of the ternary operator
to a StringRefNull before assignment.

dd168a35c5 Refactor: Replace MEM_cnew with a type-aware template version of MEM_callocN.
The general idea is to keep the 'old', C-style MEM_callocN signature, and slowly
replace most of its usages with the new, C++-style type-safer template version.

* `MEM_cnew<T>` allocation version is renamed to `MEM_callocN<T>`.
* `MEM_cnew_array<T>` allocation version is renamed to `MEM_calloc_arrayN<T>`.
* `MEM_cnew<T>` duplicate version is renamed to `MEM_dupallocN<T>`.

Similar templates type-safe version of `MEM_mallocN` will be added soon
as well.

Following discussions in !134452.

NOTE: For now static type checking in `MEM_callocN` and related are slightly
different for Windows MSVC. This compiler seems to consider structs using the
`DNA_DEFINE_CXX_METHODS` macro as non-trivial (likely because their default
copy constructors are deleted). So using checks on trivially
constructible/destructible instead on this compiler/system.

f3161149db Fix #135370: Crash when baking textures with a modified UV map
The report was storing a non-2D-Vector attribute with geometry nodes
over a valid UVMap, resulting in the evaluated mesh not having a valid
`CD_PROP_FLOAT2` layer anymore. There is already a check to early out
for the original mesh in case it has no UVs, but as mentioned, not for
the **evaluated** (cage/multi-no-res) mesh which is actually/rightfully
used to get the UVs.

To resolve, check again if we have UVs right after getting he mesh that
is actually used.
(we might even want to remove the first check, seems redundant now -
even though it would early out a bit sooner...)

63e6f53ba0 Modifiers: new Visual Geometry to Objects operator
This adds a new `Visual Geometry to Objects` operator which is added to the
`Apply` menu.

It creates new objects from the evaluated geometry of the active object. Other
than e.g. applying modifiers, this operator does keep all generated data and
creates new objects and collections for instances. It does have some
similarities to `Make Instances Real` with the main difference that it doesn't
actually realize instances, i.e. instanced geometry is still shared between all
objects using it.

It does intentionally not replace the original object, because the semantics of
that aren't all that obvious. It's especially tricky when the object was
referenced by other objects. Instance attributes are not preserved currently.

148aa54398 ImBuf: unify color space transform threaded/non-threaded functions
There's no point in having non-threaded image color space conversion functions.
So merge the threaded and non-threaded functions and clarify names while at it:

- IMB_colormanagement_transform & IMB_colormanagement_transform_threaded
    -> IMB_colormanagement_transform_float
- IMB_colormanagement_transform_byte & IMB_colormanagement_transform_byte_threaded
    -> IMB_colormanagement_transform_byte
- IMB_colormanagement_transform_from_byte & IMB_colormanagement_transform_from_byte_threaded
    -> IMB_colormanagement_transform_byte_to_float

These places were doing single-threaded colorspace conversion previously, and
thus now are potentially faster:
- IMB_rect_from_float (used in many places)
- EXR image "save as render" saving (image_exr_from_scene_linear_to_output)
- Object baking (write_internal_bake_pixels, write_external_bake_pixels)
- General image saving, clipboard copy, movie preparation
  (IMB_colormanagement_imbuf_for_write)
- Linear conversion when reading HDR images/movies
  (colormanage_imbuf_make_linear)
- EXR multi-layer conversion (render_result_new_from_exr)

For one case I benchmarked, which is to render out a 2D stabilized 10 bit input
movie clip out of VSE, the total render time went from 49sec down to 44sec
(Ryzen 5950X), one of the single-threaded parts was the colorspace conversion
in the movieclip code.

ddced37ea4 Fix #134984: Grease Pencil: Applying a modifier clears keyframe of hidden layer
This was happening because in `apply_eval_grease_pencil_data`
we gather all the potential original layers to clear. This was done
by taking the set of all original layers and then removing layers
from the set that map to an evaluated layer.
The remaining layers are unmapped and should be cleared.

The problem is that invisible layers are no longer part of evaluated
data so there wouldn't be a mapping that could be found.

To fix this, we don't initialize the set of `orig_layers_to_clear` to
all the layers, but instead to only the layers that are visible.
This will ensure that we don't clear keyframes of hidden layers.

5100a80f7f Fix #110650: Drivers not removed if removing their container
This applies to modifiers, constraints and shape keys.
Any driver on such data was not removed with it,
leaving invalid drivers on objects.

With this patch, the drivers are removed, but animation is left untouched.
This is because animation might be reused somewhere else and we don't
want to introduce potential side effects there.

This also adds unit tests for the fixed cases

d6da9710d0 Modeling: Support normalization with locked vertex groups in N-panel
In the Vertex Weights panel of the 3D Viewport sidebar, allow for

locked weights are summed, and whatever space is left between that sum
and 1.0 is used to normalize the unlocked weights.

119fc054f8 Cleanup: BKE: Nodes: Pass-by-reference
Restriction of the nodes api to clearly define never-null function arguments.
Side effects: some assertions and null-check (with early return) were removed.
On the caller side is ensured to never derefer null to pass argument (mainly in RNA).
In addition, one pointer argument now actually a return type.

By-reference return types instead of pointers going to be separate kind of
change since also imply of cleaning up variables created from reference.

Also good future improvement would be to mark a copy-constructor as
explicit for DNA node types.

9e0c8a41cd Object Mode: conversion no longer depends on the active object
Conversion was only possible if the active object was editable &
selected, this complicated overriding the operator from Python
since it wasn't enough to override the selection & active-object.

Now it's possible to use bpy.ops.object.convert() from Python
overriding the selected_editable_objects only.

For users the difference isn't so significant:

- Having an active object is no longer required.

- It's possible there are no objects to operate on,
  as previously the active object was used to check at least one
  object could be converted, although this check wasn't fool-proof
  as it didn't check the objects data-type.

Resolves #100664.

2393d498cb Anim: add RNA function Action.fcurve_ensure_for_datablock(...)
Expose the convenience function `blender::animrig::action_fcurve_ensure()`
to RNA as `Action.fcurve_ensure_for_datablock(...)`.

The function requires that the Action is already assigned to the
data-block. It then takes care of slot assignment / creation, as well as
the creation of a layer and a keyframe strip.

This function call:

```python
fcurve = action.fcurve_ensure_for_datablock(ob_cube, "location", index=2)
```

effectively performs this logic:

```python
# Ensure the slot exists and is assigned:
slot = ob_cube.animation_data.slot
if not slot:
    slot = find_slot_for_keying(action)
if not slot:
    slot = action.slots.new(ob_cube.name)
ob_cube.animation_data.slot = slot
# Ensure a layer exists:
if action.layers:
    layer = action.layers[0]
else:
    layer = action.layers.new("Layer")
# Ensure a keyframe strip exists:
if layer.strips:
    strip = layer.strips[0]
else:
    strip = layer.strips.new('KEYFRAME')
# Ensure the channelbag exists:
channelbag = strip.channelbag(slot, ensure=True)
# Ensure the F-Curve exists:
fcurve = channelbag.fcurves.find("location", index=1)
if not fcurve:
    fcurve = channelbag.fcurves.new("location", index=1)
```

Here `find_slot_for_keying()` represents the logic that's also used when
creating keys via the user interface or the `bpy_struct.keyframe_insert()`
function.

947658d1b2 Refactor: Simplify CustomData functions by requiring ImplicitSharingInfo
Previously we generally expected CustomData layers to have implicit
sharing info, but we didn't require it. This PR clarifies that we do
require layers with non-null data to have implicit sharing info. This
generally makes code simpler because we don't have to have a separate
code path for non-shared layers. For example, it makes the "totelem"
arguments for layer freeing functions unnecessary, since shared data
knows how to free itself. Those arguments are removed in this PR.
