eee24c3378 UI: Avoid error print when using temporary region data
In some cases we store temporary region data that doesn't require
freeing. Code shouldn't expect the data pointer to be unset in this
case, so don't print an error.

c1bc70b711 Cleanup: Add a copyright notice to files and use SPDX format
A lot of files were missing copyright field in the header and
the Blender Foundation contributed to them in a sense of bug
fixing and general maintenance.

This change makes it explicit that those files are at least
partially copyrighted by the Blender Foundation.

Note that this does not make it so the Blender Foundation is
the only holder of the copyright in those files, and developers
who do not have a signed contract with the foundation still
hold the copyright as well.

Another aspect of this change is using SPDX format for the
header. We already used it for the license specification,
and now we state it for the copyright as well, following the
FAQ:

a9193a9ad2 Refactor ID liblinking on readfile to take ID pointer.
The usage of the lib pointer was cryptic to say the least, it was
essentialy used to allow or not local IDs results in the mapping
old_id_pointer -> new_id_pointer lookup result.

Now:
- Explicitely pass a boolean to allow or not local ID as result in
  lower-level code.
- Pass the 'self ID' pointer instead of its library to the whole
liblinking code (that was already the case in a few places).

Note that naming of the 'self id' pointer is currently very inconsistent
throughout the readfile liblink code, this will have to be cleaned up in
a separate step later. For now, `self_id` has been chosen for new code
as it matches the terminology in lib_query code.

The later change can also allow finer handling of lookup on undo, based
on how it was re-read (or not), should the need for this arise.

9a671c401d Fix several issues in recent changes to ID swap and lib_query.
Fix #107297: Crash on undoing "Use Nodes" step.
Fix (unreported) crash on undoing certain type of data deletion (like
collections) in some specific cases.

Main serious issues were in new handling of embedded IDs in ID swap code
(#107297), and in general in lib_query remapping code from
`BKE_lib_id_swap_full` in readfile code in undo case which could access
other IDs data, when it is not guaranteed to be valid at this point in
code.

Added an option flag to lib_query code to forbid access to the original
ID pointers in such cases.

910f60de4c Fix (unreported) wrong code in foreach_id code for Editors.
Code there was fairly naive and simple, missing some ID pointers,
sometimes improperly accessing non-ID data as IDs (usual dear Outliner
tree element usages of its 'ID' pointer...).

And code was especially quite severely broken in case these UI ID
usages were processed in a non-readonly context (i.e. if some of these
ID pointers were expected to be modified).

Code has been updated following existing very similar code in
`lib_link_workspace_layout_restore` from `readfile.cc`.

c9258e6e19 Cleanup: BKE: lib_query: Add a new type of callback flags for not-owned embedded ID pointers.
This is the case e.g. of the `parent` collection pointer of collections
children of a scene's master collection, or some nodetree pointers in
the UI data (node editor).

Right now handling of this new flag is exactly the same as in owning
embedded case, the distiction between both usages will happen in future
commits.

This commit is expected to have no behavioral change at all.

fa0f295b53 UI: Region polling support
Introduces *ARegionType.poll()* as a way to dynamically add/remove a region. The region is still there internally, but is not accessible to the user.

Previously editors would to this manually, by either removing/adding regions altogether, or hiding them, unsetting their alignment (so no AZones are added I assume) and removing their event handlers. Polling makes this much simpler.

We plan to use this in #102879.

This patch refactors multiple editors to use region polling:
- File Browser
- Sequencer
- Clip Editor
- Preferences

Notes:
- Previously, editors would lazy-create some of the regions. Versioning is added here to ensure they are always there. Could be a separate patch.
- Some editors reuse a region in different display modes, and so additional work needs to be done to reinit regions they become available or the mode changes. Typically `V2D_IS_INIT` is unset for that, which isn't great. Could be improved, but not a new issue.

Behavior change:
- When the Preferences are opened as a regular editor, the "execution" region in the preferences that displays the *Save Preferences* button would still be there, but empty with a scrollbar.
This patch makes it disappear entirely.

## Implementation

- Introduces `ARegionType.poll()`
- Before a window is drawn, all contained regions have their poll checked, and the result is stored in a flag (`RGN_FLAG_POLL_FAILED` - runtime-only flag).
- If the result of the poll changes, the area is re-initialized and event handlers are added/removed.
- UI code checks the flag as needed.

c55d38f00b Geometry Nodes: viewport preview
This adds support for showing geometry passed to the Viewer in the 3d
viewport (instead of just in the spreadsheet). The "viewer geometry"
bypasses the group output. So it is not necessary to change the final
output of the node group to be able to see the intermediate geometry.

**Activation and deactivation of a viewer node**
* A viewer node is activated by clicking on it.
* Ctrl+shift+click on any node/socket connects it to the viewer and
  makes it active.
* Ctrl+shift+click in empty space deactivates the active viewer.
* When the active viewer is not visible anymore (e.g. another object
is selected, or the current node group is exit), it is deactivated.
* Clicking on the icon in the header of the Viewer node toggles whether
  its active or not.

**Pinning**
* The spreadsheet still allows pinning the active viewer as before.
When pinned, the spreadsheet still references the viewer node even
  when it becomes inactive.
* The viewport does not support pinning at the moment. It always shows
  the active viewer.

**Attribute**
* When a field is linked to the second input of the viewer node it is
displayed as an overlay in the viewport.
* When possible the correct domain for the attribute is determined
automatically. This does not work in all cases. It falls back to the
face corner domain on meshes and the point domain on curves. When
necessary, the domain can be picked manually.
* The spreadsheet now only shows the "Viewer" column for the domain
that is selected in the Viewer node.
* Instance attributes are visualized as a constant color per instance.

**Viewport Options**
* The attribute overlay opacity can be controlled with the "Viewer Node"
  setting in the overlays popover.
* A viewport can be configured not to show intermediate viewer-geometry
by disabling the "Viewer Node" option in the "View" menu.

**Implementation Details**
* The "spreadsheet context path" was generalized to a "viewer path" that
is used in more places now.
* The viewer node itself determines the attribute domain, evaluates the
field and stores the result in a `.viewer` attribute.
* A new "viewer attribute' overlay displays the data from the `.viewer`
  attribute.
* The ground truth for the active viewer node is stored in the workspace
now. Node editors, spreadsheets and viewports retrieve the active
viewer from there unless they are pinned.
* The depsgraph object iterator has a new "viewer path" setting. When set,
the viewed geometry of the corresponding object is part of the iterator
instead of the final evaluated geometry.
* To support the instance attribute overlay `DupliObject` was extended
to contain the information necessary for drawing the overlay.
* The ctrl+shift+click operator has been refactored so that it can make
existing links to viewers active again.
* The auto-domain-detection in the Viewer node works by checking the
"preferred domain" for every field input. If there is not exactly one
preferred domain, the fallback is used.

Known limitations:
* Loose edges of meshes don't have the attribute overlay. This could be
  added separately if necessary.
* Some attributes are hard to visualize as a color directly. For example,
the values might have to be normalized or some should be drawn as arrays.
For now, we encourage users to build node groups that generate appropriate
viewer-geometry. We might include some of that functionality in future versions.
Support for displaying attribute values as text in the viewport is planned as well.
* There seems to be an issue with the attribute overlay for pointclouds on
  nvidia gpus, to be investigated.

e5e8db73df Refactor BKE_bpath module.
The main goal of this refactor is to make BPath module use `IDTypeInfo`,
and move each ID-specific part of the `foreach_path` looper into their
own IDTypeInfo struct, using a new `foreach_path` callback.

Additionally, following improvements/cleanups are included:
* Attempt to get better, more consistent namings.
** In particular, move from `path_visitor` to more standard `foreach_path`.
* Update and extend documentation.
** API doc was moved to header, according to recent discussions on this
   topic.
* Remove `BKE_bpath_relocate_visitor` from API, this is specific
callback that belongs in `lib_id.c` user code.

NOTE: This commit is expected to be 100% non-behavioral-change. This
implies that several potential further changes were only noted as
comments (like using a more generic solution for
`lib_id_library_local_paths`, addressing inconsistencies like path of
packed libraries always being skipped, regardless of the
`BKE_BPATH_FOREACH_PATH_SKIP_PACKED` `eBPathForeachFlag` flag value,
etc.).

0c3b215e7d Images: refactor how failed image load attempts are remembered
Previously, `ImageTile->ok` and `ImageUser->ok` were used to indicate
whether an image failed to load. There were three possible values
which (probably) had the following meanings:
* `0`: There was an error while loading the image. Don't try to load again.
* `1`: Default value. Try to load the image.
* `2`: The image was loaded successfully.

This image-wide flag did not make sense unfortunately, because loading
may work for some frames of an image sequence but not for others.
Remember than an image data block can also contain a movie.

The purpose of the `->ok` flag was to serve as an optimization to avoid
trying to load a file over and over again when there is an error (e.g. the
file does not exist or is invalid). To get the optimization back, the patch
is changing `MovieCache` so that it can also cache failed load attempts.
As a consequence, `ibuf` is allowed to be `NULL` in a few more places.
I added the appropriate null checks.

This also solves issues when image sequences are used with the
Image Texture node in Geometry nodes (also see D12827).

997b5fe45d VSE strip thumbnails
Draw thumbnails as strip overlay. This works for movie and image strips.
To draw thumbnails, this overlay has to be enabled and strips must be
tall enough.

The thumbnails are loaded from source file using separate thread and
stored in cache.

Drawing code uses only images stored in cache, and if any is missing,
background rendering job is started. If job can not render thumbnail,
to prevent endless loop of creating job for missing image it sets
`SEQ_FLAG_SKIP_THUMBNAILS` bit of `Sequence` flag.

To prevent visual glitches during timeline panning and zooming, `View2D`
flag `V2D_IS_NAVIGATING` is implemented. If bit is set, drawing code
will look for set of evenly distributed thumbnails that should be
guaranteed to exist and also set of previously displayed thumbnails.
Due to volatile nature of cache these thumbnails can be missing anyway,
in which case no new thumbnails will be drawn for particular strip.

Cache capacity is limited to 5000 thumbnails and performs cleanup of
non visible images when limit is reached.
