0be2535369 Cleanup: Remame PBVH headers to "paint BVH"
The PBVH struct is now called `bke::pbvh::Tree`. Expanding the acronym
in the file name just a little should help developers find things and make
the connection to the "paint" concept that loosely ties sculpt mode and
other painting modes together a little stronger.

This rename also lets us replace the weird `_api.hh` historical part of
the file name without reusing the old `BKE_pbvh.hh` file name, which
would have probably made understanding the git history a bit harder.

d33e708343 Refactor: Sculpt: Use function to access PBVH
Part of #118145.
In the future we want to move the ownership of the BVH tree to the
original mesh rather than `SculptSession`, in order to persist it
across some more general non-topology changing operations like
node tools. The first step of that change is replacing all places
that used `SculptSession::pbvh` for access with a function.

bd19212fb8 Refactor: Sculpt: Avoid BVH tree geometry pointers in normals update
Part of #118145.
There is some complexity in this area because the normals need to be
updated on the original geometry only when there is no deformation
or multires modifier. The simplest way to encapsulate that usage of
the original geometry for now was adding a separate function that
contains the lookup with a comment justifying it.

7daefd730b Refactor: Sculpt: Change PBVH and PBVHNode to public classes
Part of #118145.

These days we aren't really benefiting from making PBVH an opaque type.
As we remove its responsibilities to focus it on being a BVH tree and look
to improve performance with data-oriented design, that will only become
more true.

There are some other future developments the current header structure
makes difficult:
- Storing selections of nodes with `IndexMask` for simpler iteration, etc.
- Specialization of node type for each PBVH type
- Reducing overhead of access to node data as nodes get smaller
- General C++ cleanliness and consistency

This PR moves `PBVH` to `blender::bke::pbvh::Tree` and moves `PBVHNode`
to `blender::bke::pbvh::Node`. Both are classes visible to elsewhere in Blender
but with private data fields.

The difficult part about the change is that we're in the middle of a transition
removing data from PBVH. Rather than making some data truly private I
chose to just give it the `_` suffix, since it will ideally be removed later.
Other things should be class methods or implemented as part of friend
classes. But the "fake" private status is much simpler for now and avoids
increasing the scope of this PR too much. Though that's a bit ugly, there's a
straightforward way to resolve these issues-- it just looks like the sort of
inconsistency you'd expect in the middle of a large refactor.

better to solve it in a different way.

89c13dbb5c Fix: Mesh draw extraction missing wire batch missing normals input
The `overlay_wireframe` shaders uses a `nor` input but it wasn't added
to the GPU batch since the normals were split to a separate vertex buffer.
Adding that input gets closer to the appearance in 4.0. But it still looks a
bit different-- the outline is not as bright overall.

Fixes #120781.

1b7e67a851 Mesh: Lines index buffer creation improvement
Implements another phase of #116901, this time for the `lines` and
`lines_loose` index buffers that store indices for wireframe drawing.
The key improvement is removing loose edge's dependency on the main
edge index buffer. That means for the majority of meshes with no loose
edges, edge index extraction can be completely skipped. Even when there
are loose edges, only the loose edges need to be extracted with
wireframe turned off.

Besides that improvement, there are more changes to use data-oriented
code with visible hot loops instead of the virtual function call design
used for the existing mesh extractor system. For this step I completely
replaced the `extract_lines` object, which is in line with the general
plan for this area.

Additionally, hidden edge filtering is done ahead of time using several
`IndexMask` operations. This means only indices for visible edges need
to be uploaded to the GPU, and no restart index stripping needs to be
performed on macOS.

On my usual test file with 1.9 million vertices, I observed an
improvement from 26 to 33 FPS with wireframe off, and from 9.15 to 9.5
FPS with wireframe on.

fe76d8c946 Refactor: Remove unnecessary C wrappers for vertex and index buffers
Now that all relevant code is C++, the indirection from the C struct
`GPUVertBuf` to the C++ `blender::gpu::VertBuf` class just adds
complexity and necessitates a wrapper API, making more cleanups like
use of RAII or other C++ types more difficult.

This commit replaces the C wrapper structs with direct use of the
vertex and index buffer base classes. In C++ we can choose which parts
of a class are private, so we don't risk exposing too many
implementation details here.

bace4c9a29 Mesh: Improvements to position and normal draw extraction
Currently there are two vertex buffers that contain mesh normals. First, the
normals are extracted and stored interleaved with positions. Then there is
a second vertex buffer for just normals. Interleaving them makes some
sense, since they change together, but it fights with the contiguous storage
benefits of `Mesh` and generally makes code more difficult to optimize.

This PR removes the normals interleaved with the positions and changes
the code for extracting positions and normals from meshes to be simpler
and faster, mainly by not using the "extract iterators" as described by the
#116901 design task. That moves most of the branching outside of hot
loops, so we don't do the same work for every mesh element. This also
gives us the option of not calculating or extracting normals in more
situations like wireframe display in the future.

This is only a small part of the work for #116901, so the state of the code
after this PR will have more design inconsistencies. I'll keep working to
resolve those in the future.

In general I observed at least a 5-40% improvement in FPS in playback
of files with large meshes.

1c0f374ec3 Object: Move transform matrices to runtime struct
The `object_to_world` and `world_to_object` matrices are set during
depsgraph evaluation, calculated from the object's animated location,
rotation, scale, parenting, and constraints. It's confusing and
unnecessary to store them with the original data in DNA.

This commit moves them to `ObjectRuntime` and moves the matrices to
use the C++ `float4x4` type, giving the potential for simplified code
using the C++ abstractions. The matrices are accessible with functions
on `Object` directly since they are used so commonly. Though for write
access, directly using the runtime struct is necessary.

The inverse `world_to_object` matrix is often calculated before it's
used, even though it's calculated as part of depsgraph evaluation.
Long term we might not want to store this in `ObjectRuntime` at all,
and just calculate it on demand. Or at least we should remove the
redundant calculations. That should be done separately though.

7c69c8827b Mesh: Rename MLoopTri variable names, and functions
Make the naming consistent with the recent change from "loop" to
"corner". Avoid the need for a special type for these triangles by
conveying the semantics in the naming instead.

- `looptris` -> `corner_tris`
- `lt` -> `tri` (or `corner_tri` when there is less context)
- `looptri_index` -> `tri_index` (or `corner_tri_index`)
- `lt->tri[0]` -> `tri[0]`
- `Span<MLoopTri>` -> `Span<int3>`
- `looptri_faces` -> `tri_faces` (or `corner_tri_faces`)

If we followed the naming pattern of "corner_verts" and "edge_verts"
exactly, we'd probably use "tri_corners" instead. But that sounds much
worse and less intuitive to me.

I've found that by using standard vector types for this sort of data,
the commonalities with other areas become much clearer, and code ends
up being naturally more data oriented. Besides that, the consistency
is nice, and we get to mostly remove use of `DNA_meshdata_types.h`.

944e0483a6 Cleanup: clarify naming for MLoopTri
The term `looptri` was used ambiguously for both single & arrays.
The term `tri` was also used, causing `tri->tri`.

Use terms:

- `looptris` for an array or when dealing with multiple items.
- `looptri` is used when dealing with a single item.
- `lt` for a single MLoopTri variables & arguments.

This was already a convention but not followed closely.

e06561a27a Build: replace Blender specific DEBUG by standard NDEBUG
NDEBUG is part of the C standard and disables asserts. Only this will

DEBUG was a Blender specific define, that has now been removed.

_DEBUG is a Visual Studio define for builds in Debug configuration.
Blender defines this for all platforms. This is still used in a few

425b871607 Mesh: Replace EdgeHash and EdgeSet with C++ classes
The `EdgeHash` and `EdgeSet` data structures are designed specifically
as a hash of an order agnostic pair of integers. This specialization can
be achieved much more easily with the templated C++ data structures,
which gives improved performance, readability, and type safety.

This PR removes the older data structures and replaces their use with
`Map`, `Set`, or `VectorSet` depending on the situation. The changes
are mostly straightforward, but there are a few places where the old
API made the goals of the code confusing.

The last time these removed data structures were significantly changed,
they were already moving closer to the implementation of the newer
C++ data structures (aa63a87d37).

e955c94ed3 License Headers: Set copyright to "Blender Authors", add AUTHORS
Listing the "Blender Foundation" as copyright holder implied the Blender
Foundation holds copyright to files which may include work from many
developers.

While keeping copyright on headers makes sense for isolated libraries,
Blender's own code may be refactored or moved between files in a way
that makes the per file copyright holders less meaningful.

Copyright references to the "Blender Foundation" have been replaced with
"Blender Authors", with the exception of `./extern/` since these this
contains libraries which are more isolated, any changed to license
headers there can be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Some directories in `./intern/` have also been excluded:

- `./intern/cycles/` it's own `AUTHORS` file is planned.
