dd168a35c5 Refactor: Replace MEM_cnew with a type-aware template version of MEM_callocN.
The general idea is to keep the 'old', C-style MEM_callocN signature, and slowly
replace most of its usages with the new, C++-style type-safer template version.

* `MEM_cnew<T>` allocation version is renamed to `MEM_callocN<T>`.
* `MEM_cnew_array<T>` allocation version is renamed to `MEM_calloc_arrayN<T>`.
* `MEM_cnew<T>` duplicate version is renamed to `MEM_dupallocN<T>`.

Similar templates type-safe version of `MEM_mallocN` will be added soon
as well.

Following discussions in !134452.

NOTE: For now static type checking in `MEM_callocN` and related are slightly
different for Windows MSVC. This compiler seems to consider structs using the
`DNA_DEFINE_CXX_METHODS` macro as non-trivial (likely because their default
copy constructors are deleted). So using checks on trivially
constructible/destructible instead on this compiler/system.

79df0351d4 Spreadsheet: Expose .sculpt and .hide attributes behind debug option
This commit adds five commonly used internal Sculpt Mode attributes
to the Spreadsheet editor when `--debug-value 4001` is passed in to
assist with development and debugging of issues.

The whitelisted attributes are:
* `.sculpt_mask`
* `.sculpt_face_set`
* `.hide_vert`
* `.hide_poly`
* `.hide_edge`

And are displayed after the other existing debug columns.

This shouldn't really affect the release since original point cloud data is hidden

And replace nullptr arguments for tooltips in UI button

it seems safer to keep the distinction since it existed with null before.

920e709069 Refactor: Make header files more clangd and clang-tidy friendly
When using clangd or running clang-tidy on headers there are
currently many errors. These are noisy in IDEs, make auto fixes
impossible, and break features like code completion, refactoring
and navigation.

This makes source/blender headers work by themselves, which is
generally the goal anyway. But #includes and forward declarations
were often incomplete.

* Add #includes and forward declarations
* Add IWYU pragma: export in a few places
* Remove some unused #includes (but there are many more)
* Tweak ShaderCreateInfo macros to work better with clangd

Some types of headers still have errors, these could be fixed or
worked around with more investigation. Mostly preprocessor
template headers like NOD_static_types.h.

Note that that disabling WITH_UNITY_BUILD is required for clangd to
work properly, otherwise compile_commands.json does not contain
the information for the relevant source files.

For more details see the developer docs:
https://developer.blender.org/docs/handbook/tooling/clangd/

76e9dc0f04 Spreadsheet: Improve mesh selection filter domain interpolation
Previously the spreadsheet always used vertex selections to figure
out which geometry elements to display. This caused unexpected
filtering because of generic domain propagation rules.

Instead, implement filtering separately for each domain. This
requires a bit more boilerplate but the code is much clearer
and should be a bit more efficient too.

a4c9b691a0 Attributes: Add 2D 16 bit integer type
Add a `short2` attribute type, intended to store the existing
`CD_CUSTOMLOOPNORMAL` custom data type in order to move the custom
normal storage to generic attributes. This type probably won't get much
use besides that, but generally we don't have reasons not to add these
generic types, besides binary size. In the future we should consolidate
usage of `convert_to_static_type` to avoid large binary size increases
(about 700KB here) for this sort of addition.

This is the first step of #130484.

e62aa986b2 Format: use fmt::format correctly with runtime format strings
The `fmt::format` can process the format string at compile time. Currently, we
don't seem to be using that as we don't use `FMT_STRING`. Starting with C++20,
that will be the default though, and one has to explicitly opt out in places
where the string is not known at compile time using `fmt::runtime(...)`.
Currently, our code does not compile as C++20 because of that. Unfortunately, we
have many places with runtime format strings, because of i18n.

f0db870822 UI: Support persistent view state, write tree-view height to files
Adds support for saving some view state persistently and uses this to keep the
height of a tree-view, even as the region containing it is hidden, or the file
re-loaded.

Fixes #129058.

Basically the design is to have state stored in the region, so it can be saved
to files. Views types (tree-view, grid-view, etc) can decide themselves if they
have state to be preserved, and what state that is. If a view wants to preserve
state, it's stored in a list inside the region, identified by the view's idname.

Limitation is that multiple instances of the same view would share these bits of
state, in practice I don't think that's ever an issue.

More state can be added to be preserved as needed. Since different kinds of
views may require different state, I was thinking we could add ID properties to
`uiViewState` even, making it much more dynamic.

13391c14d8 Spreadsheet: use more obvious fallback name for geometries
Instead of `Geometry`, the fallback name is now `(Geometry)`. The goal is to
make it more obvious that this is not the actual name, but just a fallback. With
some luck it also motivates people to use better custom names.

53b9594ee2 Geometry Nodes: Add "Merge Layers" node
This patch improves working with grease pencil layers in geometry nodes.
* Allow layers to have duplicate names in geometry nodes. In original data, unique names are enforced.
  * This allows e.g. duplicating layers and then merging them by name in the end.
  * It also resolves a big serial bottleneck when working with many grease pencil layers in geometry nodes. Enforcing unique names is inefficient.
* New `Merge Layers` node that can merge multiple layers by name or by a custom group id.
* Applying a grease pencil modifier now first merges all layers with the same name to ensure all names are unique.

6810084a47 Attributes: improve API to iterate over attributes
This improve the API in multiple aspects:
* No need for an additional `lookup` call to get the current attribute. This
would internally iterate over all attributes again. This leads to O(n^2)
behavior. Note that there are still other reasons for O(n^2) behavior when
processing attributes (where n is the number of attributes).
* Remove the need to return a value from the iteration code to indicate that the
iteration should continue. This is now the default behavior. The iteration can
still be stopped by calling `iter.stop()`.
* Easier access to `is_builtin` property.
* Iterator callback only has a single parameter instead of two (of which one is
  sometimes unused).

071b18a3cc Spreadsheet: support navigating instance trees
Previously, it was not possible to see detailed information about instances in
the spreadsheet. Only the attributes on the top level instances were shown. Now,
all nested instances can be inspected too.

Combined with #114910 this will make inspecting more complex geometry with the
spreadsheet much more feasible. It's also an important part of integrating
grease pencil into geometry nodes because it makes it more obvious how layers
are converted to curve instances.

The data-selection is split into two separate tree views now. One that selects
the geometry from the instance tree, and one that's used to select the geometry
component and domain within that geometry. We found that this works better than
combining both tree views into one (we tried that in #124186).
